Pricing

This custom knob form is for ordering knobs, not for getting estimates. If you are just curious about what it's going to cost then here's a summary:

  • A basic dome knob is $22.
  • Knobs with tapered sides are $26 ea.
  • Pointer knobs start at $33 each.
  • If you want two different woods and possibly a veneer layer between them add $6 per knob.
  • Add-ons such as the inlayed tops, indicator lines or dots are another $6-$10 extra per knob.
  • inlayed abalone indicator line on side, top or both, $10 per surface.
  • A dimple indicator is $4.
  • Knurled sides (that cross-hatching effect to give you a grip) will add $5 per.
  • Fluted sides (parallel grooves down the sides) will add $12 per knob.
  • A narrow skirt adds $5, wide and or flaired skirts add $10 ea.
  • A high gloss finish adds an $10 surcharge per knob.
  • If you are looking for matching wood switch tips, those run between $15 and $25 ea. See switch tips page to order.

If you are sending me pre-laminated cut-offs from an instrument that's under construction, I won't charge you extra for the laminations since that part is already done.

If you are a professional luthier or manufacturer contact me for quantity pricing.

I try to finish orders and ship them in under a week. All orders are shipped USPS first class and take 2-5 days to arrive in the continental 48 States.
Domestic first class postage is free.
Foreign orders are sent via Airmail International for $14-20 or Priority International flat rate for $36.50 ($26 for Canada) per order unless other arrangements are made .

Expectations If I'm to match an existing instrument I need a photo taken in daylight with corrected white balance. I'll try to match the wood grain, color, figure and finish as well as I can but I can't guarantee a perfect match. For perfection, I need the instrument at my shop or wood cutoffs from the builder.

I want you to be happy and I warrantee my knobs for proper fit and against defects or my mistakes with a full exchange privilage for the first year. Please contact me before sending anything back. I can't cover for your mistakes but I will try to accommodate you.

Your Order

Not all possible knob options are covered by this form. If you have other ideas just tell me and I'll try to make them a reality but the pricing guidelines above may not apply. Specialty metal knobs, metal/wood composites or "recon" stone inlays are all possible.

Please describe your instrument's controls or active tone system and describe the knobs you want.

Bass players can choose among common active systems:
